Silent Sunday

Thankful Friday

Posted: 22 July 2011 in Thankful Friday

I won’t lie… these last few weeks have been tough. I’ve spouted about it all a bit on twitter but we have mostly had to keep things to ourselves. We’ve had money worries and a dilemma that could change our family dynamics forever if I’m totally honest. Sometimes life really isnt plain sailing. It would be easier if it were but would it be dull? Probably. Sometimes things happen to keep us on our toes.

We will get through it all eventually but now it is time to be thankful for the good things 🙂

Tonight we go on holiday! We are off to good old Morecambe. We have already got some great memories from family holidays there and this week we will add some more to the memory bank. We are hoping for good weather but we have plans made incase it isnt so good. A trip to the Sandcastle Waterpark in Blackpool is set to be the highlight of the week. I’ll try and blog a review after we’ve been.

I am so thankful that my parents have a lovely house that is big enough to have us to stay for a while. So thankful that we were able to move out of our old house at very short notice and feel settled here. I’m even more thankful that we get along with my parents so that we are able to live here together without friction!

I have lovely friends who listen to me ramble on about trivial things in comparison to what others are going through.

I found a new teacup! I’m a bit (ok, a lot) fussy about the shape and size of a mug for a cup of tea. I’ve been looking for a new one for a while and I found one in Sainsbury’s. My tea drinking can now recommence.

Lastly for this week I am thankful for sunshine! It has rained a lot this week and on Monday I got very wet taking the kids to school. It was awful. It was meant to be awful weather all week and while it hasnt been fantastic there have been some lovely bursts of sunshine. It makes everything seem brighter, even moods and situations.

Another update

A lot has happened in the last couple of months. We took the big decision to move out of our home and temporarily move into my parents house. The neighbours were driving me crazy with music and horrible attitudes towards us. Although in the grand scheme of things they perhaps weren’t majorly loud I heard on the grapevine they were getting a drum kit to go with their guitars and already loud amps. Things were about to get worse and they made me feel very uncomfortable.

So, we are out! We are living with mum and dad in their lovely 5 bedroom house. There is plenty of room for us and all is well for the time being. Our main issue here is the internet… it isn’t very fast and there is a download limit. I’ve had to stop uploading photographs which is making me a bit sad. We are saving up for a deposit to rent somewhere else and when the right thing comes up we’ll be off again. We need somewhere with some outside space for the kids and a separate kitchen would be wonderful. Open plan is lovely for a while but the novelty wore off for us.

School finished for the summer on Tuesday and I have 7 weeks of free time with the girls ahead. We have a little break to Morecambe planned and also a few days away visiting friends and family later in August.

Katie starts school in September. She is doing really well and the transition should be smooth for her. A lot of work has gone in at nursery to make it so.
I am now a school governor which is fascinating stuff. I am learning loads and enjoying having the responsibility. It is likely that I’ll become the new chair of the school PTA in September too. Bit scary but nobody else seems to want to do it so it’s either step up or see it struggle.

Watch out for Thankful Friday posts restarting tomorrow. I need to rediscover my blogging mojo!
